FG Unveils $500 Million Fund to Boost Research and Innovation in Universities.

The federal government has approved a $500 million investment in the National Research and Innovation Development Fund (NRIDF) to strengthen research, science, and technological development across Nigerian universities and institutions.

Tunji Alausa said the initiative is designed to tackle fragmentation within Nigeria’s research ecosystem by creating stronger collaboration between universities, research institutes, industries, and government agencies.

According to the minister, the fund will support innovation driven projects, improve research financing, and align academic research with national development goals. The government believes the programme will help drive economic growth, technological advancement, and global competitiveness within Nigeria’s education sector.
