Ex-Access Bank Staff Get Seven Years Jail Term Over N7.8m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of two former bank officials in separate fraud cases involving about N7.8 million.

The convictions were handed down by Justice A.A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court, who sentenced Obadofin Daniel Bamise and Hadiza Oyiza Yakubu to seven years imprisonment each after finding them guilty on separate one-count charges bordering on fraud.

According to the EFCC, the offences involved financial misconduct and misappropriation of funds during their time in the banking sector.

The anti-graft agency said the successful prosecution reflects its continued crackdown on corruption and financial crimes within Nigeria’s financial institutions.

The court also ruled that the convicts must restitute the stolen funds, while failure to comply could attract additional penalties in line with the law.
