Enugu Governor Peter Mba Emerges as New Chairman of APC Governors Forum

This development emerged following a closed-door meeting of governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), held on Thursday night in Abuja, where key decisions affecting the leadership of the forum were taken.

Sources within the party indicated that the decision was reached during an extraordinary session attended by about 20 APC governors drawn from different states across the country.

Those present were said to include governors from Ogun, Bayelsa, Enugu, and several other states, reflecting broad participation in the discussions.

Interestingly, the leadership change came only hours after Governor Uzodimma represented APC governors at the official submission of President Bola Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms in Abuja, an event that drew significant political attention.

Party insiders suggest that Mbah’s emergence is part of wider efforts to restructure and energize the forum, with a focus on improving coordination and cooperation among APC-controlled states.

Although official confirmation and full details of the transition were still limited at the time of reporting, sources described the move as strategic and aimed at strengthening internal party cohesion.

They further explained that the Progressive Governors Forum plays a key role in aligning policies, sharing governance ideas, and advancing collective interests of governors within the ruling party.
