Enenche condemns ‘vag∆bond generation’ over VDM’s att∆ck on Apostle Arome

Pastor Paul Enenche, founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has condemned what he described as a “vagabond generation” in reaction to the controversy surrounding social media critic VeryDarkMan and Apostle Arome Osayi.

The controversy began after VDM criticised Arome over a sermon in which the preacher spoke about revival as Nigeria’s national calling. VDM argued that such preaching encourages Nigerians to depend excessively on prayer instead of pursuing innovation, creativity and practical solutions. He also mocked the cleric in his video.

Reacting to the wider trend of young people attacking senior ministers online, Enenche lamented what he sees as a decline in respect for elders and mentors.

He described it as “almost a vagabond generation”, saying some people have no value for fathers or those who should be mentoring them, yet attack people who began their ministries before they were even born.

Enenche said:

“It’s a vagabond generation. No value for elders, no value for mentor. One small boy that was born yesterday, wake up one morning, whether he drank quaya or the devil entered his head, because he has internet and data, attacking someone who has started the ministry before he was born.”

Enenche’s remarks come amid a growing debate over the boundaries of social-media criticism, particularly when younger online personalities challenge established religious leaders.

The controversy has therefore moved beyond Arome’s original sermon, raising broader questions about criticism, accountability and respect for religious leaders in Nigeria’s increasingly digital public space.
