EFCC, FBI Probe Alleged Diversion Of USAID Funds

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in investigating the alleged diversion and mismanagement of funds provided under United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported programmes.

The two agencies also agreed to strengthen strategic collaboration, intelligence sharing and operational synergy in the investigation, the EFCC said.

The commission disclosed this in a post on its official X account on Friday.

The EFCC did not disclose the amount of USAID funds allegedly diverted or mismanaged, the programmes involved or the individuals and organisations under investigation.

The development comes amid increased scrutiny of US foreign aid programmes and the management of funds provided through USAID-supported initiatives.

The EFCC said its collaboration with the FBI would strengthen efforts to investigate the alleged diversion and mismanagement of the funds.
