EFCC Declares Kogi Man Wanted For Allegations Of Fraud, Conspiracy
According to a notice signed by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Abdusalam Akolawole, an indigene of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, was last known to reside at River Park Estate, Cluster 1, Babatunde Folawiyo Plot 101, Lugbe, Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared 38-year-old Abdusalam Abdussamad Akolawole, wanted for conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.
According to a notice signed by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Abdusalam Akolawole, an indigene of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, was last known to reside at River Park Estate, Cluster 1, Babatunde Folawiyo Plot 101, Lugbe, Abuja.
The notice stated that “anyone with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the commission’s office in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices.”
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the EFCC declared Christopher Enweremadu, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in Abia State under ex-Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, wanted for alleged financial crimes.
In a separate notice, also signed by Dele Oyewale, the anti-graft agency stated:
“The public is hereby notified that CHRISTOPHER ENWEREMADU, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Diversion of Public Funds stealing and Money Laundering.”
The Commission further described him as:
“Christopher Enweremadu is 58 year-old indigene of Abia State and his last known address is: Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Umuahia Abia State.”
The EFCC appealed to the public for assistance in locating him, adding:
“Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices.”
The development comes months after a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Apo ordered an investigation into the use of funds allocated to 17 Local Government Areas in Abia State between 2019 and 2023.
In a ruling delivered in December 2024, Justice Bello Kawu directed the EFCC to deposit a certified true copy of its investigation report—or provide a detailed status of the funds allocated to the LGAs within the four-year period—at the court’s registry.
The judge also ordered the seizure of international passports belonging to three former Abia government officials. Those affected include the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Rt. Hon. Prince Christopher Enweremadu; a former aide to the immediate past governor, Erondu Uchenna Erondu; and the Permanent Secretary attached to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Deaconess Joy Nwanju.
