Days To Osun Governorship Election, Political Thugs Destroy Billboards, Sack Accord Party Office

Few days to the August 15 Osun State gubernatorial election, suspected thugs have attacked an Accord Party office in Ilesa, Osun State, destroying equipment and other items within the facility, SaharaReporters has learnt.

The attack was said to have occured on Saturday, August 8, 2026 , leading to supporters of the Accord Party running to safety.
A source lamented the spate of attacks on the party’s offices just a week to the election
“The attackers are hoping to cause fear and panic within the party’s support base and this is unfortunate,” the party source, who does not want to be quoted for fear of attacks, told SaharaReporters.
It was also stated that the attack on the office came for the second time within two weeks with allegations that they were sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is an opposition party in Osun State.
“This is the second time in two weeks that our offices have come under attack and the attackers are being sponsored by the APC,” the source alleged.
In a separate video seen by SaharaReporters, thugs were seen tearing down the Accord Party’s billboard, which was erected to seek support for incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Residents in the state were seen in the video lamenting the development, expressing worry.
“Is this a good thing? See the way they are destroying the billboard,” a resident said in the video seen by SaharaReporters.
These developments, it was gathered, have added to the already heightened tensions within the state, where the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party have traded blame over the state of violence ahead of the gubernatorial election.
The developments also come as the Imole Campaign Council alleged that the Osun State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Mayowa Anjoorin, was abducted during an attack on Accord leaders in Ilesa, while accusing the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, of holding a secret late-night meeting with some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains.
The campaign council, which manages the campaign of incumbent Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, made the allegations in a statement issued in Osogbo on Saturday, August 8, 2026, and addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

The statement was signed by Hon. Bamidele Sallam, Chairman, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Imole Campaign Organisation.
The council alleged that CP Gotan was still enabling APC thugs to attack and intimidate leaders and members of Accord across Osun State.
“The Imole Campaign Council has alerted the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan is still enabling APC thugs to attack and intimidate leaders and members of Accord across Osun state,” the statement said.
