Crisis H!ts ADC As Aregbesola And David Mark Clash Over Party’s Congress

Crisis Hits ADC As Aregbesola And David Mark Clash Over Party’s Congress

The national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark and the national secretary of ADC, Rauf Aregbesola appear to be at loggerhead over the party’s Congress.

A circular signed and released by the office of the national secretary of the ADC, Rauf Aregbesola which announced the party’s planned congress for states, local government, wards and polling units has been disclaimed by the national chairman of the ADC, David Mark.

The disclaimer to the Rauf Aregbesola’s circular, jointly signed by the state-chairmen of ADC in Kogi and Edo State, claim that David Mark informed them that the circular signed and released to the public by Rauf Aregbesola, the national secretary of the ADC, did not emanate from his office and that he does not concur to the information conveyed therein.

The disclaimer thereafter described the circular from Rauf Aregbesola as illegal, invalid and that it will have no effect on the members of the party. The general public are also urged to disregard the information conveyed in the circular.

David Mark has also spoken in support of the disclaimer, stating that the ADC will not hold congress to elect states, local governments, wards and polling units leaders.

This development has triggered serious concern among Nigerians especially those who currently see the coalition party as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressive Congress in the face of the People’s Democratic Party’s dwindling relevance occasioned by unending leadership crisis.

Hence, many have expressed concern over the report of Aregbesola falling out with David Mark as they are wary of leadership crisis in the party which is capable of derailing the party from its founding vision at the period when Nigerians eargely seek a viable opposition party to the APC.

However, neither Rauf Aregbesola nor David Mark has publicly spoken on the report of a possible crisis between them.
