Corps Members Must Obey Nigeria’s Social Media Rules and Regulations — NYSC DG, Olakunle Nafiu
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, has warned that corps members are fully subject to Nigeria’s cyberb¥llying and social media laws during their service year.
Speaking in Abuja during an interview with NAN, he said corps members remain citizens and are not exempt from laws regulating online conduct.
He stressed that any cyberb¥llying allegations would be investigated and prosecuted by relevant authorities, adding that NYSC does not provide legal representation for offenders, though the Legal Aid Council may offer support where necessary.
Nafiu urged corps members to use social media responsibly, noting that the scheme is intensifying sensitisation on proper digital behaviour amid rising content creation among youths.
He, however, said NYSC is not against content creation but insists on lawful and responsible engagement.
