Chaos As Ibadan Residents Allegedly Chase Sharafadeen Alli’s Convoy From Gbagi Market, Chanting “Thief, Thief”
There was pandemonium at Gbagi Market, Ibadan yesterday as residents reportedly chased the convoy of the Oyo State APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli , forcing him, his running mate, Adesoji Adedeji, and his supporters to hurriedly leave the market.

Eyewitnesses said the visit, which was intended to be a campaign tour of the popular market, turned chaotic the moment traders and residents sighted the convoy of the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District.
According to traders at the market, the crowd began chanting “Thief! Thief! Thief!” as the convoy moved through the market, an action that reportedly threw the campaign team into panic and led to the abrupt end of the visit.
Residents who spoke with journalists accused Senator Alli of doing nothing for his constituents since his election to the Senate, despite receiving constituency funds.
“Sharafadeen Alli has done nothing for his constituents. He has not empowered anybody. He has not facilitated jobs. He has not brought any development,” Mrs Fatai Tolu one trader alleged.
Several residents further alleged that the Senator is using constituency money meant to empower his constituents to bankroll his governorship campaign.
“The money meant to empower his people is what he is now using to run around for governorship. That is why the people are angry. Gbagi has rejected him,” Mr Okunade Yusuf another resident claimed.
Political observers say the incident at Gbagi Market is another clear sign of the growing mass rejection of the Alli/ Adesoji Adedeji ticket in Ibadan and across Oyo State, coming barely days after party leaders and residents were said to have boycotted his manifesto presentation.
As at the time of filing this report, neither Senator Sharafadeen Alli nor his campaign team had issued an official statement on the incident at Gbagi Market.
