Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha overjoyed as mum secures US visa

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has expressed immense joy after his mother was granted a US visa, allowing her to travel to watch him play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 38-year-old shot-stopper revealed he was “very happy” that his mother will be in the stands when Cape Verde face Uruguay this weekend.

Vozinha, one of the most experienced players in the Cape Verde squad, said the news means the world to him and his family, especially as it will be his mother’s first time seeing him play at a World Cup.

Cape Verde, making only their second appearance at the World Cup, will be hoping Vozinha and his teammates can deliver a memorable performance against Uruguay.
