Campaign song don ready’: Eedris Abdulkareem drops new track with daring message through Seyi Tinubu to his father

Veteran Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem has stirred reactions online after releasing a new politically charged song aimed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.

The singer, known for using his music to address social and political issues, shared the music video on Instagram on Monday, November 2, 2026.

In the song, Eedris directly addresses Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, urging him to appeal to his father to do better for Nigerians.

Seyi Tinubu, how you dey, help beg your papa. Your papa na good father to you but na bad for Nigerians,” the veteran musician sings in the track.

Through the lyrics, Eedris contrasts Tinubu’s role as a father to his family with his performance as Nigeria’s president, using Seyi as a channel to deliver his message to the presidency.

The singer also turns his attention to members of the National Assembly, criticising lawmakers over a new tax law. He alleges that politicians are more concerned about rigging the next election before implementing the law, raising questions about governance and accountability.

To reach a wider audience, Eedris incorporates Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa into the song, taking his message across Nigeria’s major linguistic groups.

The approach reflects the singer’s long-standing reputation for using music to comment on the country’s political climate, economic challenges and leadership. His 2004 hit song, “Jaga Jaga,” famously criticised the state of the nation and established him as one of Nigeria’s outspoken voices in politically conscious music.

The latest release has drawn attention online, with the singer once again using his platform to express dissatisfaction with the country’s leadership and the challenges facing ordinary Nigerians.

As reactions continue to trail the song, many Nigerians have praised Eedris Abdulkareem for continuing to speak about the country’s challenges through his music, while others have drawn comparisons between him and the late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

What do you think about Eedris’ latest message to President Tinubu, and do you believe Nigerian musicians should speak more openly about the country’s political situation? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
