CAF sends 15-man team to inspect Nigeria facilities
The Confederation of African Football will send a 15-man delegation to Nigeria on Friday for a second and final inspection of facilities ahead of the country’s hosting of the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to hold at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, on Saturday, November 21, while the 2026 CAF Awards will take place at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Lagos, on Monday, December 7.
According to a statement published on the Nigeria Football Federation website, the delegation will be led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa.
The team will arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon to inspect facilities and engage with executives of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel and Suites, and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, as well as officials of the Lagos State Government.
In Abuja, the delegation will assess preparations at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The officials are also scheduled to pay courtesy visits to the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission.
The final inspection follows an earlier visit by CAF officials from July 31 to August 4, during which they met with executives of institutions and agencies involved in hosting the events in Lagos and Abuja.
The initial discussions focused on establishing regular communication and reaching agreements to ensure smooth coordination and the successful delivery of both events.
A six-member Nigeria Football Federation delegation, led by Dr Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF officials during the inspections.
