As responsible citizens exercising our fundamental civic duty, the Akoko Community Development Union (ACDU) demands full public disclosure from Hon. Ife Ehindero, the elected Member of the House of Representatives for Akoko North East and West Federal Constituency in Ondo State. This is about the complete absence of solar streetlights funded to the tune of N500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira), despite full budgetary approval and allocation. These lights were meant to brighten various strategic locations across our constituency, enhancing safety, commerce, and quality of life for residents who voted for progress and delivery.
The project in question is precisely documented in the National Assembly Insertions within the 2024 Federal Budget. It carries Serial Number 7 and was sponsored by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Headquarters, with the official ZIP Code ERGP20242421. The full project name reads: Supply and Installation of Solar Streetlights in Various Locations in Akoko North East West Federal Constituency in Ondo State. Classified as a brand new project, it received an approved amount of exactly N500,000,000. This initiative represents just one slice of the massive over N2,000,000,000 (Two billion Naira) worth of contracts inserted into the 2024 Budget through National Assembly processes. Akoko voters entrusted Hon. Ehindero with oversight and execution; now, civic responsibility requires him to specify the exact streets, communities, and sites where these streetlights have been supplied and installed or acknowledge any lapses.
Hon. Ehindero and his political principals must respond promptly, as this civic demand upholds the democratic contract between leaders and the people.
