‘Breaking Bad’ actor RJ Mitte dies ‘by suicide’ at 34

RJ Mitte, the US actor best known for playing Walter White Jr. in the drama series ‘Breaking Bad’, has died at the age of 34.

His representatives confirmed the death in a statement to TMZ, describing him as a beloved actor, philanthropist and disability rights advocate.

“It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte. RJ Mitte was best known for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series ‘Breaking Bad’,” the statement read.

“Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion. Beyond entertaining friends and family around the world, he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.”

A county official confirmed to TMZ that RJ died Monday in Texas by suicide. Law enforcement officials said there is an ongoing investigation into the matter.

Born Roy Frank Mitte III on August 21, 1992, Mitte was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of three.

He began pursuing acting after moving to Los Angeles with his family as a teenager, making early television appearances in productions such as ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘Everybody Hates Chris’.

His breakthrough came in 2008 when he was cast as Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character, in ‘Breaking Bad’. The series ran until 2013 and earned widespread critical acclaim.
