Hon. Femi Adekanmbi, PhD, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), has paid tribute to the life and legacy of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, who passed away at the age of 100.
In a personally signed statement, Adekanmbi lauded the late Afenifere leader as a distinguished patriot, eminent statesman, and fearless advocate for truth, justice, and the Yoruba cause.
He remarked that Pa Fasoranti was not merely an elder statesman but an institution whose life epitomized courage, discipline, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the principles of true federalism and good governance.
“Pa Fasoranti led a life of profound impact and fulfillment. He was a father figure to many, a wise counselor, and a moral compass who consistently spoke truth to power. His contributions to the socio-political development of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation, and Nigeria as a whole are immeasurable and will remain etched in our history,” Adekanmbi stated.
He further noted that Pa Fasoranti’s leadership of Afenifere infused the organization with dignity, direction, and moral fortitude. His enduring contributions to education as a seasoned principal and his pivotal role in community development will be long remembered.
Adekanmbi extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the leadership and members of Afenifere, and the government and people of Ondo State over this profound loss.
He offered prayers for the repose of Pa Fasoranti’s soul and sought divine comfort for his family and the entire Yoruba community to bear this irreparable loss.
