‘Bitter ex’ — NDC chieftain fires back at Datti Baba-Ahmed over Obi criticism
Theophilus Agada, director of new media and strategic communications of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has taken a jab at Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, former Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, over his criticism of Peter Obi’s presidential bid.

In a recent interview on Mic On Podcast, Baba-Ahmed said Obi, the NDC standard-bearer, and other politicians seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections cannot improve Nigeria.
Baba-Ahmed said the leading opposition candidates were part of the political class responsible for Nigeria’s current condition.
“I will simply advise uncle [Tinubu] to please prepare to hand over and move away, but not to the people contesting against him because none of them will improve Nigeria. All those people contesting against him too were all in bed together at some point or another — including Peter Obi. At some point, he was in PDP,” Baba-Ahmed said.
Obi resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2022, days before the party’s presidential primary.
He joined the LP two days later and subsequently secured its presidential ticket for the 2023 election, with Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.
Obi finished third in the election behind Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.
In a post on X on Monday, Agada took aim at Baba-Ahmed, describing him as a “bitter ex”.
“Datti Baba-Ahmed is just a bitter ex,” he wrote.
Baba-Ahmed has made several critical remarks about Obi since the former Anambra governor left the Labour Party (LP) in 2025.
In May, Baba-Ahmed said Obi’s decision to leave the Labour Party (LP) amid the party’s crisis cast doubt on his leadership capacity to govern.
In June, Baba-Ahmed said he joined forces with Obi in the 2023 election out of sympathy.
