Benue Probe Panel Uncovers ₦139.8 Billion in Unaccounted Funds Linked to Ortom-Era Administration
A commission of inquiry established by the Benue State Government has reportedly uncovered ₦139.8 billion in public funds that could not be properly accounted for between 2015 and 2023, during the administration of former Governor Samuel Ortom.
The panel, inaugurated in February 2024 by Governor Hyacinth Alia, was tasked with investigating the management of state finances and assets under the previous administration.
The findings are part of an inquiry report and do not amount to a court conviction or formal finding of criminal liability.
Any further action, including possible recovery efforts or prosecution, would depend on subsequent investigations and legal processes.
