Barry Showkey Opens Up About Betrayal by Saheed Osupa

In a recent interview with Agbaletu, Barry Showkey, expressed his disappointment and hurt towards Saheed Osupa. Showkey claims that Osupa betrayed him after he helped Osupa achieve fame.

Showkey revealed that he convinced the late Barrister (Mr. Fuji) to crown Osupa as the king of music, which created tension between Showkey and Pasuma. Showkey prioritized Osupa’s success due to their shared Ibadan roots.

However, Showkey feels betrayed by Osupa’s actions, particularly during Barrister’s illness when Osupa was absent.

The interview also discussed Showkey’s relationships with other Fuji musicians, including Pasuma, Atawewe, and Osupa, whom he referred to as colleagues. Showkey mentioned that in the 1990s, these musicians were reportedly paid 500,000 Naira for shows, although they did not actually receive this amount.

Showkey also shared a memory of Taye Currency, whom he referred to as a younger colleague. Showkey recalled that he and Pasuma would often send Currency to buy food for them when they traveled to Ibadan.
