WHEN THE CHURCH BECOMES THE HOSPITAL: RCCG MAKES MEDICAL HISTORY IN WEST AFRICA

While the internet was busy with noise, The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) just did what no hospital, no government, no private investor has ever done in West Africa.
They made history.
At the Redeemer’s Health Village, inside Redemption Camp, Mowe – RCCG successfully performed the FIRST Tele-Robotic Surgery in the entire West Africa.
Let that sink in.
What happened?
This was not just a robot assisting a surgeon in the same room. This was Tele-Robotics.
The lead surgeon sat at the console inside the Redeemer’s Health Village, Redemption Camp.
The patient lay on the operating table at NISA Premier Hospital, Abuja – hundreds of kilometers away.
The surgeon operated from a distance. The robot in Abuja responded. The surgery was 100% successful.
For the first time in West Africa, distance was removed from surgery.
Why is this bigger than we think?
1. It proves it can be done in Africa, by Africans. We don’t have to fly abroad for world-class technology anymore. It is here.
2. It is the future of healthcare for rural Nigeria. Tomorrow, a specialist in Lagos can operate on a patient in Maiduguri, Sokoto or Bayelsa without entering a plane.
3. It sets a new standard. Redeemer’s Health Village is not just a clinic. From the videos I have seen – the Intensive Care Unit, Laboratory, Radiology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Dialysis, and State-of-the-Art Surgical Theatres – that is how a hospital should look. That is the standard every Nigerian deserves.
And this is not a one-off.
For years, RCCG has been quietly doing what many institutions have failed to do:
– Donating dialysis machines and equipping hospitals across the nation.
– Running free medical and surgical outreaches that have saved thousands of lives who could not afford care.
– Building and sustaining a World-Class, Accessible and Affordable Health Village that rivals facilities abroad.
If this was bad news about the Church, every blog would have carried it with a breaking news tag. But because it is good news, because it is about lives being saved and Nigeria being placed on the global medical map, it is quiet.
We will not be quiet.
This is not just about RCCG. This is about what is possible in Nigeria. This is about faith meeting science. This is about the Church showing us what purposeful investment in health looks like.
Let us celebrate this milestone. Let us share this video.
Nigeria can work. Africa can lead.
Congratulations to RCCG. Congratulations to the medical team at Redeemer’s Health Village. Congratulations to Nigeria.
