Bandits now Ready To Lay Down Their Weapons If Government Grants Amnesty –  Gumi confirms 

Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has urged the Nigerian government to consider granting amnesty to bandits, similar to the approach used for repentant Boko Haram members.

Speaking in Kaduna, Gumi said Nigeria has relied on military operations for over 17 years, yet insecurity still persists across many parts of the country. According to him, it may be time to explore dialogue, rehabilitation, and education as alternative solutions.

He stated that many bandits are willing to surrender but fear being arrested or attacked once they give up their weapons.

Gumi also proposed removing children from forest camps and enrolling them in schools as part of efforts to break the cycle of violence.

He further advised the government to pay attention to the demands of the bandits instead of depending solely on military action.
