Bandits Attack Governor’s Chief of Staff’s Convoy

A convoy conveying the Chief of Staff to the Zamfara State Governor, Mouktar Lugga, has reportedly come under attack by suspected bandits along the Funtua–Gusau highway.

The incident occurred near Kucheri village in Zamfara State, where the gunmen reportedly opened fire on the convoy in an evening ambush.
Despite the intensity of the attack, all occupants of the vehicles reportedly escaped unharmed.

Sources said one of the bullets struck the windshield of the vehicle conveying the Chief of Staff. However, the driver reportedly remained composed and successfully manoeuvred the vehicle away from the danger zone.

The incident has once again raised concerns over the worsening security situation along major highways in the region, where travellers and motorists continue to face the threat of armed attacks.

The attack on a convoy carrying a senior government official underscores the growing concern over the safety of Nigerians travelling on the country’s roads.

While no casualty was reported in the incident, the development has renewed calls for stronger security measures and more effective intelligence-driven operations to protect motorists and commuters, particularly along vulnerable highways.
