Awe Olayinka Olamide Withdraws from ‘NACAS’ Election, Cites Irregularities and Hon. Ife Ehindero’s Involvement

Student leader Awe Olayinka Olamide has pulled out of the ongoing election, citing site irregularities and the involvement of Hon. Ife Ehindero Member representing Akoko North West/Akoko North East, despite leadership appeals made to him.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, Awe said the process had been compromised by the Electoral Committee and declared the election already void. He alleged that the Senator was not allowed into the hall for the election, describing the exercise as predetermined rather than a valid contest.

Awe said Hon. Ehindero’s hand in the matter was clear and “deeply disappointing,” especially given the loyalty his father and their people have shown over time. He added that leadership had pleaded with the lawmaker, but those appeals did not change the situation on the ground.

He stated that his camp would not recognise the compromised process and would challenge it in court.

The full statement reads:

PRESS STATEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

My Dearest Students,

I hereby formally withdraw from this election.

The process has been compromised by the Electoral Committee. That fact is no longer in dispute.

This election is already void. Our Senator was not allowed to enter the hall for the election. A contest conducted while a duly entitled candidate is locked out of the venue cannot stand. It is not an election. It is a predetermined exercise.

The hand of Honourable Ife Ehindero is clearly in this. That is deeply disappointing especially in light of the loyalty my father and our people have shown, consistently and without reservation.

We will not dignify a compromised process. We will challenge this in court.

Thank you.

Signed
AWE OLAYINKA OLAMIDE
