Troops of Operation Hadin Kai crushed a large, multi-front ISWAP assault on 27 Brigade HQ and a checkpoint in Buni Gari at 2:00 a.m. Thursday, killing at least 50 terrorists. The attackers struck from the west, south, and south-west under darkness but were repelled by “devastating firepower” with no part of the camp breached.
Air and ground forces combined to rout the insurgents. Precision airstrikes hit fleeing fighters while soldiers recovered 10 bodies on site. Intelligence reports indicate 20+ more corpses along escape routes through Gashua, Azare, and Kamuya. Troops also seized 8 AK-47s, 2 GPMGs, 2 RPG tubes, 5 RPG bombs, IED canisters, and thousands of rounds.
Two soldiers died in the battle. The Army says wounded troops are stable, and exploitation operations are ongoing to track survivors. “These failed attacks show the growing desperation of terrorists,” said Lt. Col. Sani Uba. See image of the terrorists unalived in the comment section.
