APC Will Win 2027 Election Not Because Of Tinubu’s Performance But Because

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Yusuf, has said the ruling party is likely to secure victory in the 2027 presidential election due to the weakness of opposition parties rather than the performance of the current administration.

Yusuf made the remarks during an appearance on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television, where he assessed the state of Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to him, while individual figures within opposition parties are credible, their inability to unite as a cohesive force undermines their chances of mounting a serious challenge.

“APC will win the presidential election in 2027, not because the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed well, but because there is no opposition; there is no challenge in the opposition,” Yusuf said.

He added that the lack of coordination among opposition leaders remains a major setback, despite their individual strengths.

“Individually, they are very credible captains, but as a team, I don’t see them working together for the success of the opposition,” he noted.

The comments come amid ongoing internal disputes and realignments within major opposition parties, which analysts say could shape the dynamics of the next general election.

Yusuf’s remarks have since generated reactions across political circles, with some agreeing that disunity remains a major challenge for the opposition, while others argue that the ruling party’s performance will ultimately be the deciding factor for voters in 2027.
