APC Supporter Threatens Sowore With Fresh Attack In Lagos, Says Activist Will Be ‘Mended’ If He Visits Ikorodu, Days After Ekiti Assault
SaharaReporters also learnt that Oluifa is a strong supporter of the APC and its governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi.

Asupporter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), identified as Adeniyi Oluifa Omo-Yayi, has sparked fresh security concerns after posting a threatening comment bragging about fresh attacks against human rights activist, SaharaReporters publisher and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore.Shop African Art
The comment appeared on the Facebook page of Sunday Adedayo Asefon, former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and an aide to President Bola Tinubu, whom Sowore has publicly accused of involvement in planning the October 30, 2026, violent attack against him and members of his team in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
In the Facebook comment, posted in response to a post by Asefon regarding what he described as “recent attacks by Sowore” following the attack on the AAC presidential candidate in Ekiti, Oluifa challenged Sowore to visit Ikorodu in Lagos State, suggesting that he would face another attack if he did so.Shop African Art
Oluifa wrote: “You get time dey explain ooo… Make e carry himself come Ikorodu if they no go still mend am…”
He continued by accusing Sowore of attacking political leaders and suggesting that “if it is easy to lead”, the activist should first contest and win a seat in the House of Representatives.Shop African Art
The reference to Sowore being “mended” has raised fresh concerns because it comes barely a week after armed men violently attacked the AAC presidential candidate and his entourage at Tawakalitu Restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti.
Sources familiar with the controversy also claim that Oluifa maintains close ties with the current NANS President, popularly known as Akinteye Babtee Babatunde, who has expressed support for Asefon and urged him to ignore Sowore amid the allegations surrounding the Ekiti attack.
“Sowore has found his way to dragging ASEFON into his assault issue. Asefon was dragged by sowore throughout his administration as NANS president and never for once did he attack SOWORE, so why will he attack him now as SSAP?ASEFON pls ignore,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Those relationships and the extent of any political coordination have become sources of information since the attack in Ado-Ekiti.
SaharaReporters also learnt that Oluifa is a strong supporter of the APC and its governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi.
The October 30 assault left Sowore and members of his security team injured after a large group of armed men descended on them at the restaurant shortly after the presidential candidate completed an interview at MIDAS 90.5 FM.
Sowore has accused individuals associated with the Ekiti State Government, the APC and the City Boys Movement of organising and executing what he described as an attempted assassination.
According to information gathered by Sowore’s team, the attackers were led by Sola Adenijo, popularly known as Solar, with other participants including Ayodeji Akintade Ifeoluwa, also known as AK, and a large group of armed men mobilised from locations associated with the Ekiti State Government.
The team has also accused a former retired police officer identified as CSP Marcus Olaosebikan Ogundola, who previously commanded the Rapid Response Squad in Ekiti State, of providing operational cover for the attackers.
Further allegations concern the conduct of personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Ekiti State Police Command following the attack.
Sowore’s team claims that police and DSS personnel participated in removing CCTV equipment from Tawakalitu Restaurant and that the recordings were subsequently erased. The team has demanded an independent forensic examination of the equipment to establish what happened to the footage and who was responsible.
Electronic devices stolen from members of Sowore’s entourage were also traced to locations around the Ekiti State Governor’s Lodge and Government Office in Ado-Ekiti. The location information has been independently verified and established who possessed the devices.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration initially denied allegations linking it to the attack, while the Ekiti State Police Command, under Commissioner of Police Michael Falade, initially described the incident as an altercation at a restaurant.
The police subsequently announced the arrest of 11 suspects, who were arraigned before a magistrate’s court and granted bail.
However, Sowore has rejected the arrests as an apparent attempt to divert attention from the principal perpetrators, insisting that none of those arraigned was among the attackers his team had identified in video footage released publicly.
The activist has repeatedly demanded the removal of Commissioner Falade from responsibility for the investigation, accusing the police command of failing to pursue the individuals identified by his team and of mishandling crucial evidence.
The fresh Facebook comment attributed to Oluifa has now added another dimension to the controversy, raising questions about whether individuals sympathetic to those accused of involvement in the Ekiti attack are attempting to intimidate Sowore against continuing his political activities elsewhere in Nigeria.
Although the Facebook comment is visible in a screenshot, the precise intent behind the expression “mend am” has not been independently established. Nevertheless, its timing and reference to a possible repeat of violence warrant police examination.
Sowore has maintained that neither the Ekiti attack nor subsequent threats will deter him from exercising his constitutional rights to freedom of movement, political participation and peaceful assembly.
The latest development has renewed calls for the police to investigate the threatening comment, preserve the relevant social media evidence, and identify those responsible for the October 30 violence.
Efforts by SaharaReporters to obtain a response from the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, regarding the threat against Sowore were unsuccessful, as she neither answered calls to her mobile phone nor responded to a text message sent to seek her comments on the matter.
