APC Governor Accused Of Buying Dual APC Senatorial Forms As Party Crisis Deepens

There is growing tension within the political camp of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq following revelations that the governor allegedly purchased two separate Expressions of Interest (EOI) and Nomination Forms for the Kwara Central Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), each bearing different signatures.
The development, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters through internal party documents titled “APC Sales of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for 2027 Senatorial Election,” has raised serious questions about transparency, internal democracy, and alleged manipulation within the party’s ranks in Kwara State.
According to the document, Governor AbdulRazaq’s name appears twice on the official list of aspirants.
The first entry is listed as number 2, while the second occurrence of the same name appears again as number 10—both entries carrying identical names but reportedly different signatures, suggesting possible discrepancies in the submission process.
Further details reveal that the payment receipt numbers for the two forms are distinct. The first form is tied to receipt number 003144, while the second carries receipt number 013705, confirming that two separate payments were made.
Similarly, the form serial numbers also differ. One form is identified as 0000128, while the other is marked 0000240, further reinforcing claims that two independent forms were processed under the governor’s name.
Investigations by SaharaReporters also indicate that the forms were purchased on different dates. One was reportedly obtained on April 29, 2026, while the second was purchased a day later on April 30, 2026.

The emergence of the details has triggered outrage and confusion among party members, many of whom are demanding clarification from the APC leadership as well as from the governor himself.
Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in Kwara State has become increasingly charged, particularly within the APC, as uncertainty surrounding the party’s internal arrangements continues to fuel discontent among aspirants.
In a related development, the Chief Press Secretary (CSP) to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Sources within the APC disclosed to SaharaReporters that tensions have reached a boiling point, as several aspirants who had already purchased nomination forms are now considering defecting en masse to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The potential defections are reportedly driven by frustration over Governor AbdulRazaq’s alleged failure to provide clear direction and leadership ahead of the party’s primary elections.
One aggrieved party member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said:
“We don’t know where the governor stands. There is no clarity, no guidance. People are left to speculate, and now this issue of multiple forms has made matters worse. Many of us are already weighing our options.”
Another source added: “This is not just about forms; it is about trust. When a leader appears to play multiple sides, it destabilizes the entire structure. That is why many aspirants are already opening talks with the ADC.”
When SaharaReporters contacted the APC Kwara State Publicity Secretary, Abd’wahid Babatunde, he said, “Please, I’m in the middle of a meeting,” and then hung up the call.
SaharaReporters previously reported that AbdulRazaq reportedly travelled to France ahead of President Bola Tinubu amid worsening insecurity and renewed bandit attacks across several communities in the state.
Speaking with SaharaReporters, sources accused the governor of prioritising political interests over the safety and welfare of citizens.
Multiple sources noted that the governor hurriedly travelled to Europe as an attempt to secure political advantage and presidential backing ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to sources familiar with the development, AbdulRazaq allegedly made frantic but unsuccessful attempts to secure a place on the President’s official delegation, including lobbying efforts directed at influential figures within Tinubu’s inner political circle.
Sources, however, claimed that after failing to secure a spot on the presidential entourage, the Kwara governor allegedly travelled independently to France to pursue private political meetings connected to succession plans in Kwara State.
A Presidency source told SaharaReporters that the governor’s mission was allegedly aimed at obtaining President Tinubu’s support to handpick his successor and maintain political control in the state after the end of his tenure.
