Amaechi breaks silence after reportedly walking out of meeting with David Mark over Atiku’s adoption as consensus candidate:

Former governor of Rivers state and 2027 presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi has reacted to the growing tension over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket.

Earlier today, Rotimi Amaechi reportedly stormed out of David Mark’s Abuja residence. A video which circulated on Nigeria social media community, showed the moment Amaechi briskly walked out of David Mark’s Abuja home, entered his car and drive off.

Reports suggest that Amaechi stormed out of the meeting with David Mark today after the ADC chairman told him that the stakeholders of the ADC have concluded plan to adopt former vice president Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

Hence, while speaking in political podcast by Daily Trust Newspaper, Rotimi Amaechi reiterated his stance on the way the ADC presidential candidate for 2027 should be determined.

According to him, while Atiku Abubakar claims that he does not believe in zoning of the presidential seat between the South and the North, the ADC should organize a direct primary election for the contestants.

He noted that since Atiku Abubakar resisted the idea of the ADC presidential ticket being zoned to the southern Nigeria, the presidential candidate of the party should then be determined through direct election in line with the 2026 electoral act.

Muhammad Hayatu-Deen, Rotimi Amaechi and Atiku Abubakar are the ADC presidential aspirants. Like Rotimi Amaechi, Muhammad Hayatu-Deen insists that the ADC must determine its presidential candidate through a transparent direct primary election.
