Allegation against Hon Olabintan, false and malicious – Idowu Afuye Describe leaked audio as sabotage

A respected chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and the CEO of ISA COMMUNICATIONS, Hon Idowu Afuye has risen in strong defence of Hon. Olabintan, following the circulation of a leaked audio recording attributed to him. Kolawole described the development as a calculated and malicious attempt to damage Olabintan’s reputation and frustrate his ambition to emerge as the next APC State Chairman.

In a well-articulated statement shared on his Facebook page, Afuye condemned the secret recording and its public release, describing it as the handiwork of a mischievous individual seeking to incite disunity within the party and misrepresent Olabintan’s genuine intentions.

> “I have listened to the audio recording, which was made by an unscrupulous person who saw an opportunity to bring Hon. Olabintan down. It was secretly recorded and deliberately released with the selfish aim of damaging his image and truncating his aspiration to lead the APC in Ondo State,” Afuye stated.

He stressed that contrary to the false narratives being pushed around, there is no credible evidence in the audio suggesting that Hon. Olabintan indicted Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa or acted against the interest of the party.

> “What I observe is that the opposition is celebrating what they perceive as negativity. This is nothing but an attempt to strain the cordial relationship between Hon. Olabintan and the governor,” he added, describing the act as a calculated ploy to create internal crisis at a sensitive political moment.

Kolawole maintained that Hon. Olabintan’s remarks in the recording were aligned with the values of party loyalty and internal discipline. He urged party stakeholders to take inspiration from the era of the late Governor Olusegun Agagu, which was marked by unity and merit-based recognition.

> “Olabintan simply made objective observations and offered thoughtful suggestions on party leadership. In those days, recognition came through hard work, sacrifice, loyalty, and consistent dedication to party ideals—not by mere affiliations,” he said, referencing Omoogun’s Timeless Principles of Party Loyalty in Nigeria (2018).

He also drew parallels with Lagos State, recalling how former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was denied a second term primarily due to a disconnect with party structures, despite commendable infrastructural achievements.

Kolawole explained that if given the opportunity to serve as APC Chairman in Ondo State, Hon. Olabintan would work closely with the governor to ensure true party loyalists at the grassroots are empowered and the party structure is strengthened.

> “The governor cannot know every loyal member at the grassroots level. That is why a strong and disciplined party leadership is essential. It helps to foster loyalty, maintain internal harmony, and position the party for electoral victory,” Kolawole stressed, citing the Nigeria Political Party Dynamics Report (2022).

He further affirmed that the relationship between Governor Ayedatiwa and Hon. Olabintan remains unbroken and grounded in mutual respect and shared values.

> “There is no credible basis to believe that any opposition conspiracy can damage the strong bond between the governor and Hon. Olabintan. Their collaboration is crucial to the progress of Ondo State,” he said.

Kolawole concluded by calling on APC members to unite, promote internal discipline, and reject divisive politics.

> “Any attempt to misrepresent or undermine Hon. Olabintan’s genuine contributions is unjust and misdirected. Our collective focus should be on building consensus, strengthening party institutions, and supporting democratic ideals. Let us come together and move the Ondo APC forward.”DEFENDING PARTY LOYALTY: HON. OLABINTAN TARGETED BY MISCHIEF MAKERS, NOT AGAINST GOVERNOR AYEDATIWA
