Aliko Didn’t Know I Put 2 Security Men On His Site,The Day Contractor Didn’t Work,They’ll Report-OBJ

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he secretly placed two security officers at Aliko Dangote’s cement project site to monitor the progress of construction and ensure the businessman followed through on his production plan.

Obasanjo disclosed this at the launch of the Lamu oil refinery project in Kenya on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, while recounting how his administration encouraged Dangote to move from cement importation to local production.

According to the former president, Dangote had developed a plan to establish cement production after the government linked importation privileges to progress in domestic manufacturing.

Obasanjo said Dangote was unaware that he had stationed two security officers at the project site to monitor the activities of his contractors and provide him with regular updates.

He said, “Aliko made this plan. What Aliko didn’t know was that I put 2 security men on his site. The day his contractors did not work, they will report to me.”

The former president said the arrangement enabled him to monitor the project closely and personally follow up whenever construction work stopped.

He added that whenever the security officers informed him that the contractors had not worked on a particular day, he would immediately contact Dangote to ask for an explanation.

“I will phone Aliko and say ‘Aliko, your contractors didn’t work yesterday.’ He will give the reasons,” Obasanjo recalled.
