Aisha Yesufu Reacts To Report Claiming Christians Are Mandated To Wear Hijab In Al-Hikma University & Nobody Protested

Socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to a social media post claiming that Christian students are required to wear the hijab at Al-Hikmah University, saying no institution should compel women either to wear or not to wear the Islamic head covering.

The discussion began after a post by Hannah Rachael alleged that Christian students at Al-Hikmah University are mandated to wear the hijab and argued that those unwilling to comply with the institution’s dress code should simply choose not to attend the university.

The post further suggested that Muslims often create unnecessary controversy over similar issues.

Responding to the claim, Yesufu rejected the reasoning, insisting that compelling women to dress in a particular way is wrong regardless of the circumstances.

“Both are wrong. No institution should force anyone to wear hijab and no institution should force anyone not to wear hijab,” she wrote.

The activist added that the actions of one institution should not be used to justify similar policies elsewhere.

“One doing a thing doesn’t make it right. Women should not be policed on how they choose to dress,” she stated.
