Adebutu Will Contest, Win Ogun Governorship Election In 2027 – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has urged its supporters to remain calm following the omission of its governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) final list of candidates for the February 6, 2027 governorship election.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, the PDP expressed confidence that Adebutu’s name would be published by INEC, insisting that the omission would not derail its preparations for the election.

The party alleged that the development resulted from pressure mounted on the electoral commission by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which it accused of being apprehensive about the PDP’s prospects in the state.Track Bills

The PDP maintained that Adebutu had remained a member of the party and completed the required digital membership registration within the stipulated period.

According to the statement, his membership card was printed, verified and submitted to INEC at the appropriate time.

The party urged residents of Ogun State and its supporters not to be distracted by the development, reiterating its determination to contest the election and expressing confidence in its candidate.

It also called on party faithful to remain steadfast and vigilant, alleging that attempts to undermine its candidate would not change the political aspirations of the people of the state.

The PDP further assured its supporters that it would continue its efforts towards what it described as rescuing Ogun State and bringing relief to residents.

“The public should be informed that the omission of our Candidate’s name in the INEC’s list is as a result of the undue pressure mounted by the ruling party on INEC out of fear of losing the election to our party.

”We state emphatically that our candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, who has never left the Peoples Democratic Party at any time duly registered as a member of the party within the designated period of the digital registration with his party membership card printed, verified and submitted to INEC at the stipulated time.

“While we urge the good people of Ogun not to be perturbed nor distracted from our focus of voting out the APC, we remain resolute, unfazed and unwaveringly confident that our candidate is marching straight to a decisive victory in the Ogun 2027 Governorship election.

“No amount of desperate manipulation, political witch-hunts, or calculated distractions can alter the mandate of the people of Ogun State who are overwhelmingly eager for true leadership and positive change.

“Once again, we call on all our teeming supporters, party faithful, and the general public to remain steadfast, vigilant, and unintimidated as the unstoppable movement to rescue Ogun State and bring RELIEF to our people continues to gain momentum’” the party stated.

INEC on Saturday published what it described as final list of governorship and Houses of Assembly candidates on its website, but did not include the PDP in the governorship category for Ogun State.

Adebutu’s omission has raised questions about his eligibility, particularly following concerns raised by some groups over his reported absence from the PDP membership register submitted to the electoral commission.

As of the time of the statement, INEC had not publicly provided an official explanation for the omission.
