ADC Coalition Condemns INEC Over ‘Unlawful’ Delisting of David Mark-Led Leadership
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition Solidarity Forum has strongly condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over what it described as the unlawful delisting of the party’s National Working Committee led by Senator David Mark.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the group alleged that the move signals a broader attempt to weaken opposition forces and undermine Nigeria’s multi-party democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

African Democratic Congress Coalition Solidarity Forum views the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) sudden delisting of the David Mark-led National Working Committee from its official portal as a clear and dangerous act of political sabotage orchestrated at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
On April 1, 2026, INEC, through its National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, announced the removal of Senator David Mark and other duly elected leaders of ADC from its portal, citing a Court of Appeal ruling that merely directed the maintenance of status quo ante bellum in an internal leadership matter. This action goes far beyond compliance with any court order. It is a calculated move to render ADC invisible, cripple its operations, and prevent it from functioning as a credible alternative to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This is not an isolated incident. It is part of a wider, systematic campaign by the Tinubu administration to weaken, fragment, and ultimately silence all credible opposition parties in Nigeria. By weaponising INEC against ADC, one of the fastest-growing opposition platforms attracting heavyweights and millions of disillusioned Nigerians, the ruling party seeks to eliminate any meaningful challenge to its continued hold on power, despite the unprecedented hardship, insecurity, and poverty inflicted on citizens.
Senator David Mark, National Chairman of ADC, stated:
“The agenda is very clear: to create a situation where, in 2027, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerges as the only option left for the people, despite the widespread suffering and wanton killings going on across the country. INEC has become irredeemably partisan and has lost the confidence of Nigerians. We demand the immediate resignation of the INEC Chairman for his role in this criminal conspiracy against democracy.”ADC leadership further notes that the Commission’s selective interpretation of court judgments while ignoring similar disputes in other parties exposes its bias. INEC has no constitutional power to decide the leadership of political parties or to delist duly registered executives without a final court pronouncement. This overreach is nothing short of electoral manipulation and a direct assault on multi-party democracy.
African Democratic Congress remains resolute and united under the leadership of Senator David Mark and the National Working Committee. We have fulfilled all legal and constitutional requirements and will continue to mobilise Nigerians for the urgent task of rescuing our country from bad governance.
We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organisations, international observers, and democratic stakeholders to rise against this dangerous slide towards a one-party dictatorship.
ADC will not be silenced. The struggle for a better Nigeria continues.
