ABIODUN REVIVES BUHARI ESTATE, DELIVERS 108-DUPLEX HOUSING COMMUNITY

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has revived the stalled President Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Abeokuta, transforming a project once threatened by legal disputes and possible forfeiture into a completed 108-unit residential community.

The estate, located along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, will be commissioned on Tuesday by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

Inherited by the Abiodun administration in a largely undeveloped state, the project had only its infrastructure awarded and one show building completed. A dispute over outstanding obligations to the contractor subsequently placed the property at risk of forfeiture.

The state government intervened, resolved the dispute out of court and commenced payments to secure its interest in the property. It later adopted a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, providing the land and infrastructure while private developers handled construction and sales.

The intervention has produced 108 modern four-bedroom fully detached and semi-detached duplexes within a gated community equipped with internal roads, street lighting, landscaped areas, clean water, 24-hour power, security, parking facilities, a clubhouse, sporting centre and children’s playground.

Governor Abiodun said the project demonstrates his administration’s commitment to protecting public assets and completing inherited projects rather than allowing them to become abandoned.

Strategically located near the State Judiciary Complex and Ogun TechHub, the estate also offers easy access to major commercial and transportation corridors. Access Bank is developing a training school and other facilities within the estate.
