Ifedayo Abegunde, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community in Ondo State and across the Niger Delta region on the occasion of this year’s Eid Al-Kabir celebration. Abegunde emphasized the significance of the festival, urging Muslims to embody the timeless values of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Eid Al-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is a sacred Islamic celebration that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion to Allah and his willingness to sacrifice in obedience to divine instruction. Abegunde called on the Muslim faithful to reflect deeply on these lessons, encouraging them to integrate the virtues of selflessness and submission to God’s will into their daily lives.

In the spirit of the season, Hon. Abegunde appealed to the affluent members of society to extend a hand of generosity to the less privileged. He highlighted the importance of sharing and caring for the poor, noting that such acts of kindness align with the essence of Eid Al-Kabir. “This is a time to show love and support to those in need,” he stated. “By remembering the poor and vulnerable, we strengthen the bonds of unity and foster a sense of togetherness that uplifts our communities.”
Abegunde also used the occasion to offer prayers for the return of pilgrims traveling to perform the Hajj. Recognizing the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage, he prayed for Allah’s protection and blessings over all participants, asking for their safe return to their families and communities.
“May the Almighty guide our pilgrims, grant them a fulfilling spiritual experience, and bring them back safely to continue their positive contributions to society,” he said.
Abegunde reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting unity, peace, and development across the Niger Delta region. He noted that the values of Eid Al-Kabir align with the NDDC’s mission to foster sustainable development and improve the lives of all residents in the region. “The NDDC remains dedicated to creating opportunities and driving progress that benefits every community, regardless of faith or background,” he affirmed.
