AbdulRazaq donates N10m to flood victims in Kwara community

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has donated N10m to residents of Pututa community in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area, following flooding that submerged parts of the community.

The intervention followed heavy rainfall and flooding in the community on Tuesday, which affected homes and other parts of Pututa, leaving residents counting their losses.

The state government announced the donation in a post on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, describing it as part of its immediate response to the disaster.

The post read, “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has donated N10 million to Pututa community in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area, as part of the state government’s immediate response to the flood disaster that submerged parts of the community.

“The donation is a support to residents affected by the natural disaster.”

The announcement was accompanied by footage showing floodwater covering parts of Pututa, with some buildings submerged by the rising water.

AbdulRazaq also visited communities affected by the flooding and was received at the palace of the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammad Kudu Kawu, according to a video released by the state government.

The latest intervention comes as residents of the affected community grapple with the impact of the flooding, with the extent of damage to property and other losses yet to be officially disclosed.
