Flight forced to divert as power bank catches fire mid air
A passenger aircraft operated by IndiGo was forced to make an emergency landing in India after a power bank reportedly caught fire mid-air, triggering panic among passengers.

Dramatic footage from the incident showed flames coming from an overhead compartment as cabin crew members attempted to extinguish the fire while frightened passengers screamed.
The Airbus A321 was travelling from Delhi to Chennai on October 11 when the incident occurred.
Flight 6E 6115 was subsequently diverted to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad as a precaution after smoke reportedly began emerging from a passenger’s personal electronic device.
The incident prompted an emergency response as the cabin crew worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of everyone on board.
Authorities confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Hyderabad. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The incident has renewed concerns about the potential dangers posed by lithium-ion batteries in personal electronic devices, including power banks, particularly when they overheat or catch fire during flights.
Passengers are generally advised to follow airline and aviation safety rules regarding the carriage, storage and use of power banks to minimise the risk of onboard battery-related incidents.
