Rivers varsity expels student over viral video alleging lecturer wrote her final-year project
The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers has expelled a final-year student over a “damaging” viral video.

In the video, Chiamaka Onyewuenyi, a final-year student in the department of English and literary studies, was seen discussing her final-year project. She claimed that her supervisor, a lecturer at the university, was helping her write the project.
She also alleged that the lecturer charged her N150,000 to write the project.
However, in a statement, Ngozi Okiridu, the university’s public relations officer, described the video as “damaging”,
She added that the senate expelled Onyewuenyi to serve as a warning to other students.
According to Okiridu, the university also disputed the student’s claim, saying there was no project topic titled “Citizenship” in her department.
“Senate has expelled Miss Onyewuenyi Chiamaka Nora with Matriculation Number U/2022/19900, a final-year student of the department of English and literary studies, over damaging content creation. The expulsion is to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to do the same,” the statement reads.
“Recall that the said student had, in an interview that went viral, claimed that her project topic was ‘Citizenship’ when there is no such topic as Citizenship in the Department. She also claimed that her supervisor was the one who wrote the project for her.”
