NDC Yet to Adopt Peter Obi as Presidential Candidate, Dickson Said to Back Tinubu — Nwazuruahu
A political commentator, Henry Nwazuruahu, has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has not formally adopted former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

Nwazuruahu also claimed that former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, is currently working in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and does not regard Obi as his presidential candidate.
According to him, the political situation surrounding the NDC and the 2027 presidential contest remains fluid, urging Obi to move quickly to clarify his political platform and relationship with the emerging coalition.
“Senator Dickson does not see Peter Obi as his presidential candidate,” Nwazuruahu was quoted as saying.
He further called on Obi to act swiftly and engage the relevant stakeholders if he intends to secure a clear presidential platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
The comments come amid continuing political realignments and discussions among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Nwazuruahu’s position represents his assessment of the current political situation, while the positions of the NDC, Peter Obi and Senator Seriake Dickson would be necessary to independently establish the status of any presidential candidacy or political alignment.
