Army Names New Hadin Kai Commander In Major Leadership Reshuffle
The Nigerian Army has announced a major reshuffle of its senior leadership, redeploying several generals and brigadier generals to key operational and strategic positions, including the appointment of Major General IA Ajose as the new Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai.
Ajose was moved from the Department of Army Operations at Army Headquarters to the Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North East, where he will oversee military operations against insurgents and other security threats in the North-East.
The reshuffle was approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and reposition the Service to respond to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, announced the postings in a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s X handle on Wednesday.
According to the Army, the exercise was designed to place officers with the appropriate “leadership, experience and expertise” in critical operational and strategic appointments.
Under the new arrangement, Major General AE Abubakar, who previously served with Operation Hadin Kai, has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean, Faculty of Operational Research.
Major General AM Alechenu has also been posted to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, while Major General RT Utsaha has moved from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Defence Headquarters Garrison as Commander.
Major General AM Umar has been appointed Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria after moving from the Department of Civil-Military Affairs.
His replacement at the Department of Civil-Military Affairs is Major General UM Alkali, who was redeployed from the Army War College.
Major General GS Muhammed has also been redeployed from the Office of the National Security Adviser to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director-General.
Major General JE Osifo, formerly of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation, has been appointed Chairman of the Military Pension Board, while Major General IE Ekpenyong has moved to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Logistics as Director, Engineering Services.
At the operational level, Brigadier General AA Bello has been redeployed from 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 Joint Task Force South-South, Operation Delta Safe, to the Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Operations.
Brigadier General MS Adamu has been appointed Commander of the newly established 8 Brigade after his redeployment from the Nigerian Army Women Command.
Brigadier General MS Sule has moved from Special Task Force Operation Enduring Peace to become Commander of 27 Task Force Brigade.
Similarly, Brigadier General I Sule has been redeployed from the Directorate of Recruitment Management to 6 Division Garrison as Commander.
Brigadier General E Azenda has also been appointed Commander of 2 Division Garrison following his redeployment from the Land Forces Simulation Centre.
His place at the simulation centre will be taken by Brigadier General AS Bugaje, who has been moved from 2 Division Garrison and appointed Director, Administration.
The Army said the new postings were aimed at maintaining a dynamic command structure capable of improving operational outcomes and strengthening joint and inter-agency coordination.
Shaibu charged the newly appointed commanders and senior officers to justify the confidence placed in them through exemplary leadership, operational innovation, professionalism and commitment to duty.
He also urged them to remain focused on the Army’s constitutional responsibility of defending Nigeria’s sovereignty, protecting its territorial integrity and supporting civil authorities in maintaining peace and security.
The Service said the reshuffle would further strengthen its capacity to respond to contemporary and emerging security threats while advancing the country’s national security objectives.
