PDP youth leader resigns position, party’s membership
The Youth Leader of the main opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Jamilu Ali Kalshingi, has resigned his position and membership of the party.

The development is contained in a resignation letter dated 31 August 2026, addressed to the Chairman of PDP, Bolari West Ward, Gombe LGA, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent on Saturday.
Jamilu Ali Kalshingi explained in the letter that his decision was made “after careful consideration” and takes effect immediately.
The former PDP Youth Leader described his tenure as an honour and promised his supporters he would remain committed to the development of the state.
“Serving as the State Youth Leader was an honour, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with dedicated party members towards our shared goals for the youth in Gombe State. I am proud of our milestones,” he stated.
He, however, explained that he is moving in a new direction that requires him to leave his party but did not disclose his next political destination.
The resignation came shortly after former PDP National Treasurer, Ahmed Yayari, defected from the party and joined the camp of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna.
