TRAGEDY AS FOUR SIBLINGS DIE AFTER ALLEGEDLY DRINKING SOFT DRINK FROM RELATIVE
AMUFU, BENUE STATE — A tragic incident has struck the Amufu community in Edumoga, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, following the deaths of four siblings who reportedly fell ill after consuming a soft drink given to them by a relative.

The children, aged 12, seven, five, and three, passed away last week. The distressing event came to public prominence after popular Idoma activist Meddy Olotu shared an extended video detailing the tragedy on his Facebook page.
According to the grieving father, who spoke in the video, he was away from home when the soft drink was allegedly handed to his children by a relative identified as Anthony Adam. The father noted that he and Adam were not on speaking terms at the time.
Approximately two to three days after consuming the drink, all four children began to show signs of illness. The father initially rushed one child to the hospital before returning home to arrange for the remaining children to stay with other relatives while he managed the hospitalized child. Upon his return, however, another child had already fallen ill.
The situation worsened rapidly. As the father tried to handle the mounting emergency, the first hospitalized child passed away and was brought home. The condition of the remaining children deteriorated swiftly, resulting in the deaths of three siblings by 7:00 a.m. the following day. The final surviving sibling, his first son, died around 12:00 p.m.
Overwhelmed by the devastating loss of all four children, the father stated that he was only prevented from harming himself by the intervention of people around him.
Meanwhile, Anthony Adam and his son have reportedly denied any knowledge regarding the circumstances of the children’s deaths. Another video circulating online captured the moment youths from the community picked up Adam.
As of the time of reporting, attempts by DAILY POST to get a response from the Benue State Police Command have been unsuccessful. Authorities have yet to officially establish the exact cause of death, and the allegations concerning the soft drink remain unconfirmed pending a formal police investigation.
