OPWS troops disrupt kidnappers’ roadblock, arrest two in Benue

Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have disrupted a suspected kidnappers’ roadblock, neutralised one suspect and arrested two others in separate operations across Benue State.

On August 19, troops responding to intelligence about an illegal checkpoint along the Jortar–Atume axis engaged the suspects in a firefight, killing one identified as “Cool Nigga”. Others fled, abandoning a motorcycle recovered by the troops.

In Logo Local Government Area, two suspected kidnappers, Terhile Iyo, 44, and Vershima Emmanuel, 32, were also arrested at Gou Village. Items recovered include a locally made pistol, cartridge, phones, SIM cards, a MoniePoint ATM card, identity card and charms.

The suspects remain in military custody for further investigation.
