How A Choir Member Reacted In A Hotel After A Pastor Took Her Far Away From Home -Pastor Adeboye
According to Pastor Enoch Adeboye Official YouTube Page on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, reminded Christians that nothing is hidden from God, urging believers to live with humility and avoid actions that contradict their faith.
Speaking during a sermon, Adeboye said many people behave as though God neither sees nor hears what they do, warning that such an attitude reflects pride and a false sense of independence from God.
To illustrate his point, he recounted the story of a pastor and a choir member who believed they had successfully concealed their actions from everyone around them.
He said: “It’s a very serious Bible study and I don’t want to tell too many stories, but at least you remember the case of a pastor who took a member of the choir to a hotel far away from home. They looked to the right, looked to the left, looked behind to be sure nobody who knew them was around. And when they got to the room, the girl said, ‘Sir, we looked right. Nobody saw us. We looked left. We looked everywhere. Nobody saw us. But sir, we didn’t look up. There is somebody up there who can see, who can hear.’ Do you remember that in all your activities?”
The cleric said the account serves as a reminder that God is aware of every action and conversation, even when people believe they are beyond the sight of others.
Adeboye also reflected on his university days, recalling that some people argued that God either did not exist or was detached from human affairs. He said such beliefs encouraged individuals to rely solely on themselves rather than on God.
He stated: “Even those of us in the universities used to say, ‘There may be God. He may be around. He might be alive, but He’s minding His own business and I’m minding my own. I don’t need Him. So I’m a god by myself.’ Like in Daniel chapter 3, the king said to those three boys, ‘Who is that God that can deliver you out of my hand?’ We at times tend to believe that there are certain things we can do without the help of God. But John 15:5 made it clear: ‘Without Him, you can do nothing.’ So there are those who say there is no God. There are those who say maybe He’s alive but that was once upon a time. Others believe He’s alive but they’ll do their own thing while He does His.”
Adeboye urged worshippers to reject pride and acknowledge their dependence on God in every aspect of life. He emphasised that recognising God’s presence and authority is essential for anyone seeking spiritual growth and a closer relationship with Him.
He concluded this part of his message by encouraging believers to examine their lives sincerely, stressing that humility before God is the foundation for lasting transformation and spiritual progress.
