US Strik£s IRGC Naval Headquarters in Northern Iran

According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Friday, July 24, 2026, the United States carried out an airstrike targeting a naval headquarters operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in northern Iran, representing another escalation in the continuing confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported that the attack struck the Hazrat Seyyed al-Shohada naval headquarters in Zibakenar, a coastal town in Gilan Province along the Caspian Sea.

Ali Bagheri, Gilan Province’s deputy governor for political and security affairs, confirmed that the facility was hit by several missiles. He said some equipment at the military installation was damaged, although preliminary assessments indicated that no deaths or injuries had been recorded. Authorities were continuing to evaluate the extent of the damage.

Neither Washington nor Tehran immediately provided details about the weapons reportedly used in the operation. The United States had also not issued a specific statement addressing the reported strike on the IRGC naval facility.

The targeted installation is associated with the naval branch of the IRGC, an elite component of Iran’s armed forces involved in strategic military and maritime operations. The IRGC Navy has maintained a significant presence in regional waters and has frequently been at the centre of tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

The reported attack comes amid intensifying military exchanges between the United States and Iran. Recent hostilities have involved strikes against military installations, strategic infrastructure and naval assets, raising concerns that the confrontation could spread further across the Middle East.

The Associated Press also reported that recent U.S. operations targeted multiple Iranian military facilities, including Revolutionary Guard naval positions and locations associated with drone and maritime activities.
