Suspected Bandits Open Fire on Coca-Cola Truck, Driver Injured
A truck driver conveying Coca-Cola products has sustained gunshot injuries after suspected armed bandits attacked his vehicle along Boka village in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to security sources, the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on July 2, when a large group of heavily armed bandits reportedly opened fire on the truck.
The injured driver, identified as Sharifu Aliyu, 29, sustained a gunshot wound to his back during the attack.
Following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), supported by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), mobilised to the scene. However, the attackers had fled before security personnel arrived.
The victim was evacuated to General Hospital, Tureta, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be responding well.
Security agencies have placed neighbouring police divisions on alert to track down the fleeing suspects, while confidence-building patrols have been intensified to reassure residents and improve security in the area.
