APC House of Assembly Candidate Escapes Suspected Kidnapping Attempt

The All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the Kogi State House of Assembly election in Ajaokuta South Constituency, Hon. Prince Aliyu Mustapha Aka’aba, narrowly escaped a suspected kidnapping attempt along the Obabara axis of the Ajaokuta Road in Kogi State.

According to reports, the incident occurred when suspected armed kidnappers reportedly attempted to intercept the politician’s movement along the route, an area that has witnessed growing security concerns in recent times.

Sources familiar with the incident said Hon. Aka’aba managed to evade the attackers, escaping unharmed despite the tense encounter. Details surrounding the circumstances of his escape remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

The attempted abduction has sparked fresh concerns among residents and political stakeholders over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Kogi State, particularly along major roads where criminal elements are increasingly targeting commuters and prominent individuals.

Residents of the area have repeatedly called on security agencies to intensify patrols and surveillance operations along the Ajaokuta corridor, which has been identified as one of the flashpoints for kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Political associates and supporters of the APC candidate have expressed relief over his safety while urging law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.

As of press time, security authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported kidnapping attempt.
