According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, reportedly lost the 2015 general election due to his inability to implement crucial recommendations made to him while he was in government, according to Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry in Enugu, Nigeria.
While discussing the political circumstances leading up to the election that ousted Jonathan from office, Mbaka made the assertion.
Key actions made (or not made) by the former president, in his view, significantly impacted the political outcome of that era and contributed to his eventual defeat in the elections.
With regard to the 2015 general election, Mbaka asserted that he had counselled Jonathan to remove Attahiru Jega, the then-Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He claimed that his worries about the administration of the election at the time informed the suggestion.
