Fubara (Snr) finally explains relationship with Governor Fubara, addresses ‘placeholder’ claim in NDC
Rivers state governorship aspirant on the platform of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Blessing Fubara (snr) has confirmed that the current governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara is his brother.
He explained that while governor Fubara is his brother, he does not share same political ideology with him, recounting the governor’s decision to withdraw from the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary election due to his lingering feud with his political benefactor, Nyesom Wike.
While speaking in an interview on Super FM 93.3, Port Harcourt on Saturday, Fubara snr revealed that his decision to vie for the governorship seat stems from his resolve to save the soul of Rivers state. He claims that his political ideals are not new to the Rivers state people whose “clarion call” he has answered.
He emphasized that his decision to pursue his governorship ambition on the platform of the NDC, has no link to the political future of governor Sim Fubara, debunking the speculation that he is to serve as a placeholder for governor Fubara pending when he finalizes his defection to the NDC.
Oh yes, I am Fubara. I am related to the governor, but we share different political ideologies, aspirations, and visions for Rivers State.
When you talk about my entrance being linked to the governor’s political decisions, that is not correct. We are beginning a new conversation about the soul of Rivers State.
All of this has been in the making. Through engagements and consultations, and given the call from across party lines and Rivers people at large, this process has been ongoing.
As a son of Rivers State, Rivers South-East Senatorial District, and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, my concern is to rescue and restore the soul of Rivers State. Every great society must have a soul that guides its moral direction and shared destiny.”
Fubara snr described the NDC as formidable opposition party capable of serving as a vehicle through which good governance is delivered to Nigerians.
Speaking on whether he consulted the governor of Rivers state before declaring his governorship ambition, Fubara snr stated that he cannot disclose publicly the details of his consultations.
