Fresh Drama As Lere Olayinka Accuses VDM Of Misleading Nigerians Over Land Dispute

A fresh war of words has erupted after Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, launched a strong criticism of social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over an old land dispute involving businesswoman Rita Lori.

In a post shared on X, Olayinka accused VDM of reviving an issue related to claims that land linked to Rita Lori’s family was allegedly seized.

According to him, VDM had previously spoken publicly on the matter, but he argued that later findings showed the disputed property was not originally allocated to the company allegedly connected to Lori’s husband.

Olayinka claimed that the land in question had been designated as a site office allocation for companies handling government construction projects.

He further alleged that while other companies vacated their allotted spaces after completing their contracts, one company continued occupying the property for decades without making payments to the government.

The media aide also criticised VDM for allegedly failing to address the issue after counter-claims emerged, accusing the activist of misleading members of the public.

In the post, Olayinka used harsh language against the social media influencer and questioned his continued involvement in the matter nearly two years after the controversy first surfaced.

The remarks have since triggered reactions online, with supporters and critics of both men debating the renewed dispute.

Neither VDM nor Rita Lori had publicly responded to Olayinka’s latest comments at the time of filing this report.

The development adds another chapter to the ongoing exchanges involving political actors, activists and influencers over land-related controversies in the Federal Capital Territory.
